Dr. Jennifer Tsung, DVM

Dr. Jennifer Tsung completed her Bachelor of Science degree in 1995 at New York University.  She continued her education at the Royal Veterinary College in London, England, and graduated as a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2001. Dr. Tsung has worked in multiple practices throughout New York City and Hong Kong.  She decided to settle down in Inwood, New York and open the Inwood Animal Clinic in 2008.




Dr. Derek Fried, VMD

Dr. Derek Fried, a born and bred New Yorker, completed his undergraduate studies at Queens College. In addition to the pre-veterinary science courses, Dr. Fried majored in both anthropology and the humanities. He continued his education at The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where he received his V.M.D. in 1995. Dr. Fried has always enjoyed not only working with our canine and feline friends but also with birds, reptiles, and small furry pocket pets.



Dr. Masani Accimé, DVM

Dr. Masani Accimé was born in Brooklyn, NY to Haitian parents, and was raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti from the early age of 2.  At the age of 11, she was relocated to the U.S., where she completed primary education, and then she completed high school in Miami.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Kentucky University in 1999, and then attended veterinary school at the University of Florida, graduating with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.  After graduation from vet school, Dr. Accimé completed a one year internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists in Manhattan (now Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners).  Dr. Accimé has been a small animal general and emergency doctor in NYC since 2004. She worked as an ER doctor at Blue Pearl Midtown (formerly NYC Veterinary Specialists) from 2006 to 2008.

Dr. Accimé has strong bonds to her native country, and she dedicated several on an endangered wildlife conservation initiative in Haiti from 2009 to 2015. She spends much of her free time volunteering in various ways, including doing post earthquake and hurricane relief work in Haiti. She now volunteers in the local Haitian communities in Brooklyn as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Dr. Accimé enjoys traveling and has visited many countries in Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Dr. Kevin Shimel, DVM

A native of Queens, New York, Dr. Kevin Shimel graduated from Iowa State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996, and has a BS in Animal Science and Chemistry from ISU as well.  Dr. Shimel has a strong interest in Feline Medicine, and spent several years as a “Caterinarian”.  He has also devoted part of his career to Emergency Medicine. Having practiced in various settings, Dr. Shimel continues to expand his interests as a well-rounded Veterinarian.

Deciding to become a Veterinarian at an early age, he has a lifelong resume of working with pets, to include Kennel Work, Dog Grooming, Shelter Work, Training and Rescue. As an avid participant in AKC Dog Shows and Field Trials, he has shown Borzoi and other purebred dogs for 38 years, and is an internationally known and AKC approved Dog Show Judge and speaker.

As a believer in staying busy, Dr Shimel has 16 years of experience in the restaurant industry and continues to enjoy cooking at home. Between his undergraduate and graduate degrees, he spent 7 years as a Research Chemist. He is also an accomplished photographer with a history of gallery exhibits and speaking engagements showcasing his world travels and photo journalistic images of life on the planet.

Dr. Carrie Mann, DVM

Dr. Carrie Mann is originally from Westchester, New York. She earned her veterinary degree at Michigan State University in 2011. After veterinary school, Dr. Mann went on to complete a small animal medicine and surgical internship at Long Island Veterinary Specialists. Following her internship, she moved to Austin, Texas and worked as an emergency clinician for 5 years.

Dr. Mann’s special interests include internal medicine and wildlife medicine. She has travelled to South Africa multiple times to work with world-renowned veterinarians on local wildlife such as zebras, rhinos, cheetah, and giraffe.

Dr. Mann currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband and their 2 dogs, Frankie and Thor, and their 2 cats, Sam and Marley.
